I recently finished a new vector icon pack — the Media Player Line Icon Set. It’s a classic collection: play, pause, fast forward… and, of course, a simple outline square representing “Stop.”

I uploaded the entire set to microstock platforms, including Shutterstock and Adobe Stock. Thanks to AI tools that handle my metadata, titles, and keywording, I now have the flexibility to upload individual icons one by one— even the simplest shapes.
When the neural network analyzed my minimalist vector square, it produced an unexpected tags and description interpretation: “Empty Checkbox.”
My immediate thought was pragmatic: “Why am I even submitting this? The Shutterstock review team is definitely going to reject it. A simple square has been drawn a thousand times before—the stock market is flooded with them.”
To my surprise, Shutterstock approved it.
That was the exact moment it hit me. This wasn’t just a vector contour with four corners. This was the “Koval Square“—a moment defining the peak of my career as a graphic designer.
The Symbol of a New Reality
In 1915, Kazimir Malevich presented his “Black Square” to the world, drawing a line under classical art and declaring a “zero point of form.” Over a century later, history has repeated itself on a whole new level.
Upon creating this square, I came to a profound realization: we have officially entered an era where what an AI sees in an image matters far more than what the human creator originally intended.
We are gradually learning to trust artificial intelligence. We trust it to categorize our art, curate our content, and dictate algorithms. The day is not far off when human decisions and lives might depend on what a neural network perceives inside a simple abstract square.

Today, this minimalist square icon is no longer just a “Stop” button or an “Empty Checkbox.” It stands as a manifesto — a symbol marking the transition into a new epoch of graphic design, human-AI collaboration, and modern life.
